Partner program terms
These terms add to our Terms of Service. By sharing your partner link you agree to them.
1. Who can take part
Creators and organisations we've invited, 18 or older. Our staff and contractors can't earn.
2. Your link and who counts
- Your link is thehindustory.com/c/<your code>.
- A Referred Subscriber is a new reader who signs up through it within 30 days of clicking it.
- It doesn't count if they were a reader in the last 12 months, are you, or signed up through someone else's link first.
3. What you earn
- 100% of the subscription payments we actually receive from each Referred Subscriber in the 12 months after their first payment, including family members they add.
- It's calculated after refunds, chargebacks, discounts and taxes.
- Nothing is earned during the free week, or on payments after those 12 months.
- For example: $24 for a yearly subscriber, plus $12 for each family member they add; $3 a month for a monthly subscriber, up to $36.
4. When it's earned
- A Referred Subscriber's payments count once they've been subscribed for 15 days (past our 14-day refund window), if they haven't been refunded or charged back by then. After that, each payment counts as soon as we receive it.
- Later refunds or chargebacks come off future earnings.
5. How you're paid
- Monthly, by PayPal or Wise, to the payout email you give us, once your earned balance is $10 or more. Smaller amounts carry over.
- We pay in US dollars. Your provider's fees are yours.
- Your private stats page shows your numbers live.
6. Fair sharing
Share with your audience and community. No spam, no ads using our name, no misleading claims, no paying people to sign up, and no fake accounts.
Say you earn from it when you share, for example “I earn if you join”. The FTC requires this in the US.
7. Our rights
- We may withhold or reverse earnings, or end a partnership, if these terms are broken.
- Our records decide what counts. If tracking fails, we'll make a fair call.
8. Taxes
- Earnings are your income.
- US partners may be asked for a W-9 if earnings could pass $600 in a year, and we may issue a 1099.
9. Changes
- We may change or end the program with 30 days' notice by email.
- Earnings from payments received before then are still paid.
10. Not a partnership in law
This doesn't make you our employee or agent, and you can't speak for The Hindu Story.
